ABOUT HER:

ANNIE LENNOX

Scotland’s pop diva was born in Aberdeen and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London before gigging around London’s club circuit as a singer. In the late 70s she joined The Tourists, and the band enjoyed some chart success before Lennox and guitarist Dave Stewart left to form the duo the Eurythmics. Their brand of synth-pop wedded to Lennox’s powerful voice and lithe, sexy stange presence yielded a succession of chart hits including "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," " "Who's That Girl?" and "Here Comes the Rain Again." The pair parted in the early 1990s, and Lennox found solo success with "Walking on Broken Glass", and the beautiful "Why". Her solo album Diva recorded sales in the millions, as did her 1995 follow-up album Medusa. A self-assured yet elusive presence, she remains one of pop music’s intriguing enigmas.
