ABOUT HIM:
Col Millington was born in Melbourne in January 1949.
He had a very early introduction to music learning Guitar at age 13. He was inspired by his older brother Gary, who was a member of Melbourne bands “The Saxons” and “The Crickets”. Interestingly, it was Col's brother who also invented the Eminar Amplifiers.
Col's involvement with that musical environment inspired him to get into music as soon as he could. He joined his first group Natures Own in 1968, followed by the groups Midnight Special, The Rondells,“Bluestone and Bass Strait.
In 1976 he jumped the fence, moving from rock/pop and defecting to Country Music, where he found his true love and a lucrative niche. The rest is history.
Over many years he has released some 37 Albums and sold over 100,000 units and won numerous awards, including the prestigious “Gentleman Geoff Brown Memorial Award” at the Tamworth Tiara Awards in January 2009.
His songwriting started in 1972 and he has written in excess of 200 songs and recorded most of them. His ability to write means the subject of his music covers a wide range and over the years he has written and composed Rock, Pop, Dance, Ballads, Latin, Jazz and Blues.
In his professional career he has played Guitar, Drums and Keyboard. He developed his arranging and producing skills by paying attention to all the professionals he worked with during his career.
Col's belief is still is, always play with Muso’s better than you - you learn more.
He has produced albums for many Artists, entertained in Clubs, Pubs, Casinos and Music Festivals all over Australia and in the early part of his career appeared on many Television Shows.
As an Entertainer today he specialises in Melody Shows. Being a Senior himself, Col now gets great enjoyment out of Entertaining folks his own age and walking them down memory lane with songs from the 1950’s 60’s & 70’s and in doing so, very much keeps his career alive and active.
