ABOUT HIM:

KURT COBAIN
(1967-1994)
“Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy your memory and your self-respect and everything that goes along with with your self esteem.” The lead singer of the Seattle band Nirvana, his was a classic rock and roll tragedy. A pioneer of “grunge rock”, which some music critics believe was merely America embracing punk rock a decade after it had swept the rest of the world, his band achieved enormous success releasing Smells Like Teen Spirit, and the classic song Lithium. Despite the success, Cobain was experiencing problems with drugs, and shot himself in April 1994. He was survived by his wife, fellow rock star Courtney Love, and their young daughter, Frances. He was mourned by fans around the world, many of whom felt that Nirvana had been the the last chance for rock and roll rebellion in the age of the music corporations.
